Rabat

Rabat, the capital of Morocco, is a city where history and modernity seamlessly blend. Situated on the Atlantic coast at the mouth of the Bou Regreg River, Rabat was founded in the 12th century by the Almohad dynasty. It became a prominent military and cultural center under Sultan Abd al-Mu’min, who built the city’s iconic Kasbah of the Udayas. Today, Rabat is known for its historical monuments, including the Hassan Tower, an unfinished minaret of a grand mosque, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a masterpiece of Moroccan architecture. Rabat is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, with a well-preserved medina and a mix of ancient ruins and modern buildings. The city serves as Morocco’s political and administrative capital, housing the royal palace and government institutions. Its relaxed atmosphere, green spaces like the Andalusian Gardens, and scenic coastline offer a quieter alternative to the hustle of larger cities like Casablanca. Rabat is a city where Morocco’s rich past and vibrant present come together, making it an important cultural and diplomatic center.
